I am the joint owner and manager of 2 Little Birds Pre-school and Childcare.

I qualified with an NNEB in 1994 and have held a variety of early years roles. In 2012 after working as an early years practitioner and as an unqualified teacher within a school setting I decide to take the plunge and undertake my teacher training. 

 

I hold a first class honours degree in Childhood Studies (SEN Specialism) and my teaching background is Early Years Foundation Stage and KS1.

 

I am a life-long Thurrock resident and have spent my teaching career within the area. I am passionate about the local community and want to contribute to it. I strongly believe that given the right environment children can learn through play and exploration. I hold the belief that children gain a love of learning through exciting opportunities and that learning does not need to take place sitting at a desk. In 2018, whilst working at Stifford Clays Primary School I won the outstanding teacher award at the Thurrock Education Awards for my innovative teaching style. I like to think outside the box and create learning opportunities in all experiences.

 

Opening my own childcare business has always been a dream of mine and in September 2018 the right premises was finally found to begin this adventure.

I am joint owner and founder of 2 Little Birds Pre-school and Childcare.

I have held a variety of childcare positions including working as a nanny and in school nurseries. Over the last few years I have been a driving force behind introducing enquiry based learning and continuous provision into the Year One classes where I have been working. I worked closely with Tracy at Stifford Clays Primary School in both EYFS and KS1.

 

I have a strong belief in outside learning and with providing children the opportunity to play in an exciting and free environment, incorporating loose parts play and in the moment planning.

 

Setting up our pre-school and childcare offering is a vision we have been working on for a long time and we are excited to be able to offer a comprehensive wraparound provision in our local community, of which I have also been a life-long resident.

I have worked in childcare for over 10 years and have a lot of knowledge and experience. During my previous employment I was a room manager in a private day nursery. I have a good understanding of how children learn and what they like to do.

I am currently studying for my Level 5 nursery management and leadership qualification.

 

I love to watch children play and see what kinds of things they like so that I can plan and extend this learning experience through their own interests. 

 

I joined 2 Little Birds in November 2019 as I loved the ethos of being outside and learning through play, and this matched my own ideals that children learn best in a stimulating environment where their needs and interests are meet through a variety of opportunities. 

 

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and socialising with friends.   

I studied drama at college and using this and my bubbly personality pursued a variety of jobs relating to children. I previously worked for a children’s party company as an entertainer as well as performing in pantomimes and other productions.

I decided to join 2 Little Birds in January 2021 as an apprentice, to enable me to gain a nationally recognised qualification in childcare and early years education. I have now completed my Level 3 Early Years Educator and was delighted to be offered a permanent position with 2 Little Birds.
